5 Tips to Calm Social Media Anxiety

5 Tips to Calm Social Media Anxiety

Regardless of marketing strategy or specialization, it’s safe to assume as a Health Coach and entrepreneur you understand the important role social media plays in business promotion.

What if the mere mention of social media has you wanting to pull your hair out?

I get it, social media is not your thing- you’re not tech savvy; it wasn’t mine either- I’m far from techie. Look at me now, all blogging and shit. 🙂  Perhaps you’re afraid of becoming one of those smartphone zombies. I was there. Having purchased my first smartphone in 2015, I was one hell of a laggard.

I was skeptical. I viewed this technological revolution as a degradation of interpersonal communication. It took me a long time and a tremendous amount of effort to accept social media and welcome it as an incredible marketing tool.

If you’re open to changing your relationship with social media and not sure where to start- these 5 tips are for you.

  1. FOCUS– We’ve all heard the success stories of aspiring entrepreneurs striking gold through a variety of social media platforms. How do they do it? How do they find time to maintain an Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook account as well as produce quality blog posts, newsletters, E-book giveaways AND maintain their physical business presence. I assure you they don’t do it alone! Until you can afford to outsource and delegate responsibilities, I would encourage you to begin by focusing your attention on one or two platforms tops. Work on mastering them before moving on. Focus on quality over quantity.

  2. CONSISTENCY– This is the motherload! Set yourself up with a realistic posting schedule. Many effective Instagramers suggest posting 3-4x a day. Ask yourself if this is a realistic request of your time. Perhaps you can commit to once a day, or every other day. Start where you are, with the time you have. Above all else, be consistent.

  3. SHARE– Share of yourself- your strengths, your weaknesses, your vulnerabilities. Your clients will appreciate your humanness.

  4. ENGAGE– Respond to comments promptly and appropriately. Be respectful, encouraging and tactfully honest.

  5. TRACK YOUR TRIBE– Social media is open to all- the believers, the dreamers, the do-ers, and the haters.  Don’t be afraid to ‘unfriend’ or ‘unfollow’ pessimistic post-ers. Your feed is essentially a representation of you- it should inspire and empower you.

I’d be happy to hear your thoughts on social media. Do you suffer from the same love/hate relationship? What is your preferred platform? What tip do you struggle the most with?
